From the Artistic Director
Welcome to the Melbourne Ring Festival.
In this brochure you will find a range of events which we have designed to complement the staging of the epic Der Ring des Nibelungen in Melbourne.
We hope that even if you aren’t attending the Ring cycle you will find this festival an exciting and stimulating event in its own right.
From serious symposiums, to Bugs Bunny and performances of operas which complement the Ring, to a great community choir concert and cabaret, the Melbourne Ring Festival embraces the spirit of this wonderful occasion and we welcome you to join us.
See you there!

From the Lord Mayor
The City of Melbourne is proud to partner with Opera Australia to bring the magic and excitement of Wagner’s epic Ring cycle into the streets, halls and galleries of our city.
The Melbourne Ring Festival involves hundreds of artists, community choirs, musicians and thinkers who will come together for four weeks to present over 30 shows, films, events and exhibitions.
This month-long ‘Ring-inspired’ extravaganza is another example of why Melbourne is now regarded as Australia’s undisputed arts and cultural capital.
